Product Review: Palmolive Ayurituel Tranquility Shower Gel

I love shower gels, and usually have quite a few on the go at the same time, so I can swap and switch depending on my mood in the morning. I am no strange to the Palmolive shower gels, and I usually have at least one of them on my shower shelf, as you can always trust the quality and that they are gentle on the skin. Here are my thoughts on the newly launched *Palmolive Ayurituel Tranquility Shower Gel;

What They Say:
Palmolive Ayurituel Tranquility Body Wash is one of three body washes in the Palmolive Ayurituel range, inspired by the ancient Indian Ayuverdic tradition. It is infused with a relaxing woody, oriental scent, paired with rosemary and patchouli. The body wash is formulated with a combination of mild cleansers to leave the skin clean and moisturised; it is presented in a versatile bottle with a gold flip-top lid.

RRP: $6.79 (400ml) – Available from Priceline, supermarkets and select pharmacies.

What I Say:
The first thing I noticed about the new Ayurituel shower gels was the newly designed bottles. Usually Palmolive shower gels come in chunkier bottles, while the new ones come in a more sleek slimline and slightly taller bottle, in spite of containing the same amount of shower gel. And I have to say that I do like the new design, and find it a lot smarter. The only thing I would like (and the same goes for the chunkier bottles), is the ability for the shower gel to stand on its head/lid when you are getting to the bottom of the product, so that you can use up every last bit, but unfortunately that is quite tricky for both bottle designs due to the rounded lid at the top of the bottle.

There are three different scents in the new Ayurituel shower gel range; Joyous, Energy and Tranquility.

The Ayurituel Tranquility Shower Gel has a slightly masculine woody scent and oriental scent, from the included Rosemary and Patchouli fragrances. These fragrances are intended to help you ‘relax and unwind making you feel peaceful and utterly serene.’

In spite of being a bit woody and masculine, I feel that it is still a unisex scent, and I quite like it, and find it a refreshing change from the often very girly floral scents of shower gels. And hubby has really taken a liking to it too.

The actual shower gel has a nice bright green colour, and it easily froths up into a nice soft foam – and even more so if a loofah is being used. And the gorgeous scent spreads through the shower and bathroom, and also lingers on the skin, even after you’ve dried off after the shower.

In spite of being perfumed, it doesn’t dry out the skin – rather it is left soft and moisturised, although I still feel I need to follow with a body moisturiser (which I always do, regardless of the shower gel I use!)

In regards the scent helping me to relax and unwind, I am not so sure, but as both hubby and I really like the scent and the performance of the shower gel, that is really all that matters.

All in all this is a great shower gel that comes at a great price too. I will definitely be looking into trying the other two varieties too!

Product Review: Innoxa Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB Cream

Since being pregnant, my otherwise troublesome skin has been really good, as I’ve hardly had any breakouts at all in the past many months (which is very lucky seeing most pimple and blemish treatments are a big no-no to use during pregnancy). I am obviously dreaming that my skin will stay this clear after I’ve given birth, but considering I’ve always struggled with my skin, I’m sadly not holding much hope. So while my skin has been clearer, I have increasingly enjoying using tinted day creams, and also BB Creams, enjoying not feeling the need to cover up my skin completely with a full coverage foundation. Here are my thoughts on the *Innoxa Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB Cream;

What They Say:
A multi tasking foundation that gives skin a radiant, perfectly flawless complexion. This formulation combines skincare & makeup in one, designed to balance and correct skin tone while restoring skins radiance with essential nutrients and repairing ingredients. Formulated to help balance & correct skin tone, brighten skin, calm & soothe skin, reduce redness, and reduce pigmentation. Fragrance & Paraben free. Dermatologically tested. Available in 5 shades, Buff, Beige, Sand, Warm, Caramel.

RRP: $24.95 (30ml) – Available from Myer, Priceline, select pharmacies, and Innoxa Online.

What I Say:

My first impression of the Innoxa Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB Cream was that it comes in a rather small tube, but on closer look, I realised that it contains 30ml, which is about the average size for a foundation.

The BB Cream comes in a slim tube, which has a silver screw lid. The actual tube has a pointy and very narrow opening, making it very easy to get just the amount of cream you need.

The cream is a little thick, yet it is easy to spread across the skin, without making it look too cakey. It gives a nice even finish, and a medium coverage with a dewy finish, covering all minor pigmentation, red blotches, scarring – and dark areas under the eyes, and making the skin tone look even and fresh. I really like that it has a medium coverage – most other BB creams that I’ve tried only give a light coverage, which is still not quite sufficient for my liking.

Used on its own, it lasts about 5 hours on my combination skin before it starts to shine, and is in need of a touch up. But still it looks nice and doesn’t change colour or settles into fine lines. And with the use of a primer underneath, and a powder on top to set it, it does last another couple of hours.

I tried the colour Caramel, which matched my skin perfectly. But the Caramel colour appears to be the darkest colour available – yet I have a medium beige coloured skin – which also means that those with darker skin tones may struggle finding their perfect colour match.

The BB cream is supposedly a 5-in one, formulated to help balance & correct skin tone, brighten skin, calm & soothe skin, reduce redness, and reduce pigmentation, but after having used it for a few weeks I have to say that I have not noticed any reduction in the amount of pigmentation I have, or that my skin tone has improved.

But in saying that, it very comfortable to wear, and has in no way irritated my skin, or even worse made it break out, unlike other BB creams that I have tried.

I also like the fact that it is fragrance & paraben free and has been dermatologically tested. But in spite of being fragrance free it does have a scent, which is a little difficult to describe, it is almost a scent of almond and spices, and although this scent is a little strange, it is still subtle and fades quickly after the cream has absorbed into the skin.

Unfortunately it doesn’t contain any SPF, which I have mixed feeling about. While on one hand I would love for it to contain a minimum of a SPF 15, on the other hand, I also have the feeling that it is the SPF in some foundations that at times make my skin break out, so I am also happy just to be using my usual moisturiser with SPF 30 underneath.

All in all this BB cream is a great product, and it ticks so many boxes for me, from its coverage, wear and not least that it is free from parabens and fragrances. And at just $24.95, it is a bargain buy too!

Product Review: GAIA Skincare Bergamot & Sandelwood Facial Exfoliant

I have always been interested in natural skincare products, but have to admit that since being pregnant, I have been even more aware of the ingredients in the products that I use, as many harsh ingredients are simply not recommended for use during pregnancy! Here’s what I think of the *GAIA Skincare Bergamot & Sandelwood Facial Exfoliant;

What They Say:
"This deep cleansing scrub gently polishes, smoothes and refines your skin's surface, removing excess oil and impurities, resulting in a clean, clear complexion and is ideal for deep cleansing blemishes and spots."

RRP: $10.95 (95ml) – Available from Priceline, selected pharmacies, and Gaia Online.

What I Say:

I have recently trialled the GAIA Belly Oil, which I absolutely love as so far I am convinced that using it is the reason why I at 36 weeks pregnant still haven’t got any stretchmarks. If you’ve missed my review, you can see it here. I have also recently reviewed the GAIA Lavender & Frankincense Body Wash and Body Moisturiser, which are equally amazing products. If you’ve missed those reviews, you can see them here)

Common for all the GAIA ranges, including their pregnancy, baby ranges and skincare ranges, are that they have been made without any of the ingredients known to irritate the skin or suspected of being harmful, so consequently the products do not contain any sulphates, petrochemicals, lanolin, paraben preservatives, propylene glycol, phthalates or artificial fragrances.  And of course the company is Australian owned, and the products Australian made, without being tested on animals. And that is just music to my ears!

The GAIA Skincare Bergamot & Sandelwood Facial Exfoliant is made from super-fine crushed walnut shells to stimulate the skin;s surface without scratching, the anti-oxidant properties of organic gingko biloba and organic ginseng help to improve skin tone and texture. It is enriched with the organic oils of avocado, evening primrose and wheat germ to provide essential fatty acids to nourish and moisturise, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and it contains a pure essential oil blend of organic sandalwood, bergamot, geranium and lavender known for their beneficial skin care properties, creates the perfect revitalising 'day spa' aroma, while organic chamomile leaves your skin feeling calm and soothed.

The first thing that struck me about the GAIA Skincare Bergamot & Sandelwood Facial Exfoliant, was how runny a formula it was compared to other facial exfoliants that I have previously used. It has a runny oily consistency with tiny crushed and powdered walnut shells. I thought it would mean I would spill it everywhere, and consequently waste half the product, however once I got used to the more runny formula, I actually loved it, as it actually just made it so much easier to massage over the face, neck and décolletage, without the need to dilute the cleanser by adding a lot of water.

After massaging the exfoliant into the skin for a few minutes, the ingredients absorb into the skin, only leaving the small scrubbing particles visible on the surface of the skin. Afterward, the cleanser is very easy to rinse off with warm water, and instantly my skin feels so soft and my skin feels thoroughly cleaned deep down every single pore. My skin is glowing and radiant.

And in spite of all the essential oils used in the formula, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy either, or leave behind any greasy residue.

The facial exfoliant comes in a small grey plastic bottle with a flip lid, which makes it very easy to use. It has an absolutely gorgeous natural scent, no doubt coming from all the natural ingredients and essential oils used in the product, including the bergamot and sandalwood.

It is very concentrated, so a little goes a long way, so in spite of the bottle being just 95ml, it will last you for a very long time.

All in all this is a fantastic exfoliant, and I really love the fact that this exfoliant is natural, and doesn’t contain any nasties, it is so nice knowing that you are not drowning your skin in damaging chemicals. And because the walnut shells in the scrub are so fine, it is so gentle on the skin, so it would be perfect even for those with sensitive skin.

Product Review: Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF 25

I have always had problems with my skin. And even though I am at the age where anti-ageing products are a necessity, and you would have thought that pimple creams would be a thing of the past, sadly that is not the case for my skin. But in saying that, since I’ve been pregnant, my skin has never been nicer. It is less greasy, and I rarely have any breakouts. Lucky seeing most pimple treatments are a big no-no to use when you’re pregnant!). But having clearer skin, also means that I on most days have swapped the full coverage foundation for tinted day creams, and lately also BB creams. Here are my thoughts on the *Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF 25;

What They Say:
"The Clarins BB cream delivers the perfect amount of colour and blends instantly minimising imperfections to ensure a flawless complexion with a natural look. On application it works to moisturise, revitalise and protect the skin."

RRP: $50 (45ml) – Available from leading department stores, select pharmacies and retail specialists, and Adore Beauty Online.

What I Say:

The Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF 25 contains among others organic kiwi extract known for its anti-fatigue and antioxidant properties; rich in vitamin C, it works to stimulate skin cells. It also contains a combination of katafray extracts and hyaluronic acid to boost and restore the skin’s natural hydration process, for additional softness and comfort.
It has been made with the Clarins exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex, SPF25 and a PA+++ to protect against UVA rays and prevent slackened skin tissue, loss of skin firmness and the appearance of wrinkles, as well as it has a combination of "3-D radiance" and light-correcting pigments to optically brighten dark, shadowy areas. And finally, it also contains Clarins exclusive anti-pollution complex to help prevent signs of premature ageing, as well as it offers 100% mineral screen to protect against UVA and UVB rays.

The Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream comes in 3 shades; light, medium and warm, and the colour 02 medium matches my medium beige skin tone perfectly. But in saying that, I could easily see some girls struggling finding their perfect shade, as these three shades do simply not cover enough variety of shades.

The BB Cream contains SPF25, which is great bonus, although, I don’t personally, I don't usually rely on the SPF in a tinted moisturiser of foundation because you apply so little of the product to get the full benefit of their SPF, so I like to layer my usual sunblock first before I apply them. Often I do get breakouts from products containing SPF, but I’m very happy to say that I have noticed any while using Clarins BB cream.

In regards to the Anti-Pollution Complex, it is impossible for me to comment on the effects of this, so I will just comment on the visible effects.
The BB Cream has a slightly thick texture, yet it feels surprisingly light and glides easily onto the skin (on top of my usual serum and day cream), without leaving any streaks.

All other BB creams that I have tried to date have had a very minimal coverage, but I’m happy to say that the Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream has a slightly better coverage which I really like, as it does even out pigmentation and cover small scars better, as well as fine lines seems to be minimised, although it still doesn’t completely cover dark pimple marks, all scarring or dark pigmentation. It gives the skin a nice dewy matte look. And in spite of being exhausted (36 weeks pregnant and not always getting a good nights sleep, and carrying around a lot more weight than you usually do, does that to you!), and the skin consequently looking dull and tired, the BB Cream gives the skin just a touch of a glow and radiance, making it look more ‘alive’, yet without making looking to shimmery. The skin looks fresh and very natural, almost like you are not wearing any makeup at all.

The BB Cream can be worn on its own, although using a powder on top, does increase both coverage and wear slightly. In spite of having combination skin, the BB Cream stays put for quite a few hours on its, without looking greasy, starting to slide off my face or change colour, and I only need to use touch up with a powder in the afternoon to see me through the day. And the cream is so comfortable to wear, making my skin feel and look thoroughly moisturised all day.

Shade 02 Medium

Shade 02 Medium blended.

The Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream comes in a simple, but stunning dark red tube with a gold screw lid. It is simple and easy to use, and I like that it has been designed to stand on its lid so that the cream drops down as you use it, making it easier to completely empty the tube.

It has the most divine floral scent, which is quite strong, which I really like. But for those not so keen on strongly fragranced products, this scent does fade once the cream has absorbed into the skin.

All in all, I have to say that this is by far the best BB cream that I have used to date, as it offers slightly more coverage making my skin look more even radiant, and it stays put basically all day without making my face look shiny or greasy, yet it still looks so natural. I will definitely be buying this again. Thanks so much Clarins, for me this is truly an incredible product – I’ve finally found my perfect BB match!

Product Review: Karpati Bio-Intelligent Enzymatic Deep Polishing Powder

Regular exfoliation helps keep the skin clear, and free from dead skin cells that not only block the pores, but also make the skin look dull. Always having had problems with my skin breaking out, I have realised that a gentle exfoliation is the key to keep my skin clear. Here are my thoughts on the *Karpati Bio-Intelligent Enzymatic Deep Polishing Powder;

What They Say:
"Karpati Bio-Intelligent Enzymatic Deep Polishing Powder cleanses and decongests the skin, it refines and smoothes out the skin’s micro relief leaving the complexion radiant and clean, and assists in further absorption of water soluble ingredients."

RRP: $86 (75g) – Available from Karpati Medispa

What I Say:

I absolutely love it when I come across new brands that I’ve never heard of or tried before. That was the case with the Karpati Bio-Intelligent brand, which has been created by beauty therapist Eva Karpati, based on her experience of what she has learnt about skin care in her 20 years of experience of dealing with the stars. Her passion is to bring an end to harmful chemicals in cosmetics, hair and nail care.

"It is my mission to inspire our generation to become better educated and to stop allowing harmful chemicals into our body on a daily basis. The peace of mind that comes with using safe and effective cosmetics is paramount in supporting our wellbeing"   Eva Karparti

And as you all may be aware, I have, since being pregnant, been increasingly interested in more natural products, so this is just music to my ears!

The Enzymatic Deep Polishing Powder includes nothing but natural ingredients such as rice flour, that won’t clog pores, Prozymex Enzyme which acts as a decongestant, lemon grass for purifying, grape seed extract that nourishes and green tea extract that acts as an antioxidant. And absolutely no harmful or nasty chemical ingredients.

These pictures speak for themselves, don't they
- absolutely no chemical nasties!!!

It has been formulated to exfoliate damaged cells, decongest pores from built up residue from creams, makeup and perspiration. It is so gentle that it can be used daily.

So how did the Enzymatic Deep Polishing Powder perform…

When I first saw the bottle with the fine powder, I did find it a little odd to begin with. Tipping a bit of the powder into my hands I was also struggling getting the powder to turn into a paste – I simply added too much water, making it too runny, or too little water so the paste was too difficult to massage into the face. So it did take a few goes before I realised that simply putting the powder onto wet hands was more than sufficient water.

Massaging the Polishing Powder into the skin, feels just like massaging a cream into the skin – it is so gentle that you, unlike other facial exfoliators, cannot feel any scrubby bits. It makes you wonder if is even doing anything to the skin…

But once rinsed off the face, I can instantly feel and see the results. My skin is so soft – softer than it has ever been, yet without being irritated, or feeling dried out. And it is as if it has been cleaned deep down every single pore. It is by far the gentlest exfoliator that I have ever used.

The Polishing Powder comes in a plastic bottle with a twist lid at the top, and once you twist it, a few small holes open (in fact a very similar design to a bottle with baby powder!), allowing you to shake out a little powder into your hands, without getting any moisture into the bottle.

The Polishing Powder doesn’t contain any fragrance, but once made into the paste, it still has a nice and gentle natural scent, no doubt from the included ingredients such as green tea and lemon grass. But once rinsed off the face, this scent quickly disappears.

After having used the Polishing Powder for over a month approx. every second day, I am so impressed with the results. My skin feels softer and more refined than it ever has. And because it is so gentle that I’ve been able to use it so frequently, it also seems to have normalised the oil production in my skin, so it no longer feels so greasy in the t-zone area, and consequently I seem to be getting less breakouts, and the blackheads that I use to have, especially on my nose, seems to be a thing of the past. It also means that my makeup glides on so much easier, and no to mention, looks so much nicer and stays put for longer.

At $86 for a bottle it is a little pricey, but you seriously only use to little (when you’ve got the hang of it!), that the bottle will last you a very long time. And in spite of having used it so frequently for a month, I still have well over half left.

Because the exfoliator is so gentle, and it contains no harsh particles, it is suitable for all skin types, including very sensitive.

All in all this truly is a wonder product. With absolutely no chemical nasties, it is so natural and so gentle, yet the results speak for themselves. Why didn’t I come across this Polishing Powder any sooner.

Product Review: Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Crème Soufflé

I don’t normally have dry skin on my body, but being almost 36 weeks pregnant, I have noticed my skin being a bit drier than usual. And of course it doesn’t help that autumn has really set in now (last night it was a mere 4 degrees here in Melbourne, brrrrrrr!). But even when I don’t feel I have dry skin, I never ever skip using a body moisturiser when I’ve showered. Here are my thoughts on The *Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Crème Soufflé;

What They Say:
"Sanctuary Spa’s Spa Essentials Crème Soufflé instantly softens the skin. It has a whipped texture with mango, jojoba and red seaweed for silky skin. With a nourishing balance of jojoba and mango extract, the soufflé will protect and restore with red seaweed and vitamin E for a soft, smooth finish."

RRP: $19.99 (475ml) – Available from Priceline

What I Say:
I recently reviewed the Sanctuary Spa Salt Scrub, and absolutely loved it, so I also had very high hopes for the Crème Soufflé.

The Crème Soufflé is a light a fluffy cream that contains among others a nourishing balance of jojoba and mango extract with the protective and restorative powers of red seaweed and vitamin E to soak in fast for a smooth, soft finish.

The Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Crème Soufflé comes in a large cream coloured plastic tub with a bright orange screw lid, which makes it look great in the bathroom too. The tub makes it easy to scoop out the cream, as well as it make it possible to completely use every last bit of cream. Unfortunately the cream had not been sealed with a foil lid, which would nice so you know that it has not been opened and contaminated prior to you purchasing it.

The Crème Soufflé, has a lovely light fluffy consistency that is easy to apply to the body, and spreads easily, instantly absorbs into the skin, making it feel thoroughly hydrated and soft, and without leaving behind any greasy feeling or residue. And the skin stays hydrated for the day, looking and feeling great. It is very concentrated so you only need to use a little too.

It smells absolutely divine of mango, one of my favourite fruits, yet it is still quite subtle, although it does linger on the skin for quite a while afterwards. But as I’m really loving this scent, I do love that it continues to make my skin smell incredible – although does mean that I cannot stop smelling my skin, LOL! In saying that, the scent on the skin, is still so subtle that it doesn’t clash with my perfume.

After using the Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden Crème Soufflé for a few weeks, I am so in love with the cream. My skin feels so soft, smooth and moisturised, and I am still loving the gorgeous scent.

At just $19.95 this is an absolute bargain buy, considering the large tub of cream you get – as well as it is of such a great quality. I will most definitely be buying another tub when I run out. I am seriously in love!

Product Review: Dove Pure Roll-On Anti-Perspirant Deodorant

Ok, unless it is a very very hot and humid day, or I’ve been exercising, I don’t sweat at lot. In saying that I (of course) always use a deodorant. And while I have always been concerned with the ingredients in the products I use, and increasingly – especially since being pregnant, have opted for more natural products, waving a crystal under my armpits is just taking it a little too far for me. But I was excited when I heard that Dove had launched a more natural deodorant, so here are my thoughts on the *Dove Pure Deodorant Roll-On;

What They Say:

"Dove Pure Deodorant Roll-On is free of parabens, fragrance, colourants and alcohol to contain only the essential ingredients to keep underarms feeling dry and looking healthy. The formula contains one-quarter moisturising cream, which actively helps put back what shaving takes out. An essential part of Dove’s formulas are skin-natural lipids, which strengthen the natural moisture barrier, helping to prevent skin dryness. Experience the pure confidence of 48-hour protection, helping reduce signs of discomfort."

RRP: $3.89 – Available from Priceline, pharmacies and supermarkets

What I Say:

I always use roll-on deodorants, and have previously used and been very happy with the Dove Roll-On deodorants, knowing they contain 1/4 moisturising cream, and therefore don’t dry out your armpits, but rather cares for them and keeps them soft and moisturised, even after shaving.

In the Dove Pure Deodorant many of the chemical nasties have been removed to help avoid common irritations, and it contains only the essential ingredients to help you feeling dry. That means that it is free from parabens, colourants, alcohol and frangrance, which is music to my ears. And of course, like the like the ‘standard’ Dove deodorants, the Pure version still contains 1/4 moisturising cream.

So how does it perform with all those ingredients taken out?

Like the 'standard' Dove Roll-On deodorant, the Pure deodorant comes in a cone shaped all white container, with pale green writing (to signify it being greener and more pure, I assume!), and it has a large roller-ball, which makes it easy to apply to the armpits. It has been designed to stand on its screw lid, which I really like, as it means that the deodorant drops down as you use it, so you can use up every last drop of product.

In spite of the deodorant having no added fragrance, it still has a nice but very faint scent, and although I am used to using deodorants with some fragrance, I really loved that it was fragrance free, so it didn’t clash with my perfume!

The Pure Deodorant dries very quickly, and without leaving behind a greasy or sticky feeling, and as I often, and even more so as we’re heading towards winter, wearing dark clothes, I love that it doesn’t leave white marks on my clothes.

The deodorant is extremely gentle, and even after shaving (and nicking myself with the blade), the deodorant doesn’t cause any irritation or stinging.

The deodorant promises to offer 48h protection, but I must admit that as I always shower every morning, and use a deodorant immediately after, I didn’t really put that claim to the test. But it certainly did protect for 24h, which I have to say is more than sufficient for me.

Overall, this really is a great deodorant, which for me ticks all the boxes. It is not only a healthier option, free from all the chemical nasties, but it also cares for my armpits while offering full protection. And at just $3.89, it is a bargain buy. I will definitely be buying the Pure Deodorant next time I need a new one. Thanks Dove, this one is a true winner!

Product Review: Societe Clinical Skin Care Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15

Since I moved to Australia over a decade ago, sadly my Scandinavian started to see an increasing amount of pigmentation, so I am always very aware of protecting my skin, to avoid it increasing any further. Here are my thoughts on the *Societe Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15;

What They Say:
"Protect against unwanted pigmentation with physical sun protection in a hydrating base with a tint to give the skin a healthy appearance with or without make up. Dries transparent. Suitable for ALL skin types. Prime and Defend does not clog pores (non-comedogenic), offers Antioxidant-rich protection with Green Tea, provides effective environmental barrier protectant, is lightly tinted to even out skin tone and smoothes and softens skin.  Prime and Defend is an excellent primer for all make-up, including mineral make-up."

RRP: $79.20 Stockist 1800 648 851

What I Say:
I have to be honest and admit that I have never heard of the Societe brand before, but I love it when I come across and get to explore new brands.

Societe Clinical Skin Care is an American range of exclusive products, created with the professional skin care specialist in mind. For ease in prescribing and at-home use, ingredients are clearly visible on product packaging and identified via a unique Societe classification system. This system is a five-ingredient breakdown targeting the essential components needed to achieve healthy skin. The numbers on each box indicate how many Antioxidants, Acids, Proteins, Plant Sources and Vitamins are in each individual product.
The products are also free from parabens, propylene glycol, and sodium lauryl sulfate, as well as they are free from fragrances and artificial dies, and of course Cruelty Free! Big bonus points from me!
The Societe Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15 is an oil-free day cream with a tint intended to be used in the morning before makeup, sun exposure and as desired for moisture.

Having combination skin, prone to breakouts I am always worried when I try a new cream, especially when it contains SPF, as that often makes it even worse, but was relieved when I read that Prime and Defend does not clog pores. That’s a good sign.

In spite the moisturiser having a slight tint, as soon as applied into the skin, you wouldn’t even know, as it dries completely transparent, which means that it doesn’t really help cover any imperfections or even out the skin tone. But it does leave the skin with a nice sheen, and hence working perfectly under makeup.

The cream absorbs instantly into the skin, making it feel soft to touch, and in spite of it being oil-free, it leaves my skin feeling thoroughly moisturised, without leaving behind greasy residue.

The Prime and Defend comes in a simple white plastic bottle with a pump, which as always I really do like as it makes it not only very easy to use, but also very hygienic as you don’t have to keep contaminating the cream by dipping your fingers into it. The only downside to the pump and the fact that the bottle is a solid white, means that it is impossible to see exactly how much product is left in the bottle, as well at it can be difficult to use up every last drop of product, but only time will tell.

It doesn’t appear as if the cream contains any added fragrance, yet it has a slight chemical scent, which also reminds me a little of liquorice, and although it does fade a little once absorbs into the skin, it does linger around for a while. But as it is only a slight scent, it doesn’t bother me.

The cream works perfectly under makeup, and really does act as a primer, as even without the use of a primer, I feel that my makeup stays put for longer, than with most other moisturisers used on their own.

And after having used the moisturiser for over a month, I am happy to say that my skin has not broken out at all. So I really do believe the claims that it is suitable for all skintypes, from combination/oily, as well as sensitive skintypes would also be able to use it as it is so gentle and fragrance free.

Obviously I have not noticed any changes to my existing pigmentation and sun damage, but it is great knowing that the moisturiser is protecting the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
At $79.20 it is not exactly cheap, but I do like, and am happy to pay a little extra for a product that I know has been made with the best ingredients and is free from chemical nasties.

While unfortunately the moisturiser does not have any anti-ageing benefits, it is a fantastic general day cream, which does leave my skin thoroughly moisturised and with a lovely glow too! I will enjoy using the remainder of this cream, and definitely look into other products in the Societe range.

Product Review: Innoxa Invisible Lip Shaper

As I’ve been wearing more lipglosses than lipsticks lately, I have to also admit that I have not been wearing a lipliner. Regardless of how well the colour matches, I just don’t feel it looks that nice with a sheer gloss. Here’s my thoughts on the *Innoxa Invisible Lip Shaper;

What They Say:

"Innoxa Invisible Lip Shaper is a lip liner that softens and contours the lips. It can also be used as a lip primer before further application."

RRP: $14.95 – Available from Myer, Priceline, and select pharmacies, or from Innoxa Online

What I Say:
Using a lipliner does help a lipstick stay put for longer, and not to mention prevents the colour from bleeding. I don’t know about you, but I have more lipstick colours than I can count, and it is at times hard to keep up also having matching lipliners.

Enter the new Invisible Lip Shaper from Innoxa. The Lip Shaper is, as the name suggests, completely invisible, so there is no longer any need to worry about not matching your lipliner to your lip colour!!

It comes in a pen that you keep twisting as you use up the liner, so there is never a need to sharpen it. It has a nice and soft formula that is easy to work with.

When filling in your lips with the Invisible Lip Shaper, it not only helps your lip colour stay put for longer, but it also prevents the colour from bleeding, and without drying out your lips. And because it is invisible/clear, you can use it with your lipgloss too, to make it stay in place longer. And nobody will ever know.

All in all, this is such a brilliant multifunctional product. You can use it with any colour lipstick you want, so no longer the need to have countless of different coloured lipliners floating around (and admit it, that you never ever use up!), but you can also use it with lipglosses, preventing the not so nice looking bleed, and making the gloss stay looking nice for longer. At $14.95 this is a fantastic buy, and I wish I’d come across it sooner. Well done Innoxa!

What do you think of an invisible/clear lip liner? How many different colours of lipliners do you currently have?

A collection of soft gels and water-light finishes by Estée Lauder and Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder, Tom Pecheux, which washes lips and illuminates cheeks with a subtle glow of fresh colour for a look of radiant, effervescent beauty.

Product Review: Australis Pout Paste

Who isn’t always on the look out for a new lippie. And while I love a good lipstick, lately I have found that I’ve been using lipglosses a little more, simply because they are often easier to apply on the go. Here are my thoughts on the Australis Pout Pastes;

What They Say:

"A super high coverage pigment stain that provides an instant glossy pout. Available in three shades which can be mixed together to create your own shade! Available in three shades; Love Bites, Berry Nice Kiss and Pash Me Pink."

RRP: $12.95 – Available from Priceline, Big W, Kmart, Target and selected pharmacies nationally or from Australis Online

What I Say:
I have previously used one of the Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipsticks, which I absolutely love, so I was very excited to be trying the Pout Pastes, as well as I had very high expectations.

Lately I have seen a lot of positive reviews about the Australis Pout Pastes – many saying they are a cheaper alternative to the OCC Lip Tars. But while I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Lip Tars, I have still to try them for myself, and well, consequently I can’t really comment on that!

The Pout Pastes are a new highly pigmented lip stain – way more pigmented than a gloss, and too creamy to be a lipstick, it is literally like a liquid or fluid lipstick! They are enriched with antioxidants to help prevent premature ageing, and claim to be non-sticky and moisturising to the lips.

The Pout Pastes come in a small squeezable plastic tube but with a little doe foot/wand applicator, which makes it easy to apply without making too much of a mess. They have a lovely but gentle fruity scent, which I quite like.

The Pout Pastes come in three shades:

Pash Me Pink: a vivid redish-pink, similar to a cerise pink

Berry Nice Kiss: a dark magenta coloured purple

Love Bites: a Bright red

According to the instructions on the back of the tube, you can apply a thin layer for a lipstick-like shine, or more layers for a full-on pout. In saying that, I found that even just a small coat gave my lips more than sufficient colour and there was no need to build up the colour further.

The Pout Paste is comfortable to wear, and does feel very moisturising on the lips. And like most lip glosses, they do fade, but it take a few hours (without eating or drinking), although before then, I did notice that it had started to bleed a little outside the lip line, and it wasn’t as glossy and shiny as when first applied. But due to the highly pigmented formula, the colour is still very noticeable on the lips. And as with any other gloss, it does transfer onto glasses when you drink, and hence disappear quicker.

All in all these Pout Pastes are fantastic products, perfect when you want to wear a lipgloss, but prefer a little more colour. And at just $12.95 they are fantastic value too!

The only negative I have about these Pout Pastes from Australis, is the fact that they only come in three colours. It would be lovely if they came in a wider selection of colours, to suit everyone’s taste, but hopefully with the many good reviews of them, more colours will be introduced in the near future.

*Product were kindly provided for consideration, and have been reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.
